Satellite Meetings

The NIDA International Program's 2008 NIDA International Forum, “Globally Improving and Applying Evidence-Based Interventions for Addictions,” is scheduled for Friday, June 13, through Tuesday, June 17. International and U.S. researchers will network with colleagues and NIDA officials throughout the meeting. Plenary session speakers will address the public health approach to drug dependence, principles of evidence-based prevention and treatment, and the impact of public policy on drug treatment.  Workshops will focus on:

·      Screening, Brief Intervention, and Treatment

·      Implementing Evidence-Based Treatments: The CTN and TreatNet Models

·      Globally Applying Evidence-Based Interventions for Women

·      Reports on Binational Research Supported by International Clinical, Operational, and Health Services Research and Training Awards

·      Applying Qualitative Methods to Understanding Drug-Related Harms

·      Global Inhalants Research Questions

·      Latin American Regional Activities

·      Post-Humphrey Fellowship Experience

 In addition, the NIDA International Research Poster Session will be held during the CPDD Workshop session from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, June 16.
