Imaging Research Postdoctoral Fellowship

 A clinical research postdoctoral fellowship is available in the neuroreceptor imaging laboratory based in Radiology/Psychiatry, within Johns Hopkins Hospital. We conduct translational and preclinical research using PET, SPECT, and MRI to investigate brain chemistry, substance abuse and other neuropsychiatric disorders. The research and training opportunities focus on NIH-funded pathophysiology and treatment outcomes, new drug development  in Phase I/II trials, methods development, including biomarker development  for animal and human imaging. We interact closely with neuroscience groups in Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology, and have access to talks and clinical interactions with all these clinical departments.  We have contacts with NIDA and NIA intramural programs, as well as the University of Maryland, and we liaise with many collaborators on NIH grants involving substance use projects. The applicant will receive training in grant/manuscripts, IRB/FDA and imaging projects.

Applicants should have M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degrees with at least USMLE Step 1 and 2, medical credentials  to allow clinical research procedures with human subjects and preferably board eligibility or some training in Psychiatry, Neurology or Radiology/Nuclear Medicine .  A background in Psychopharmacology and some research is helpful.  Salary commensurate with training level.   Opportunity for eventual advancement to a faculty is possible   Can begin as early as May 2008 and renewable annually.
