Associate/Full Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Duluth, University of Minnesota
The college is seeking applications for a full-time 12-month, tenured, faculty position at the associate or full professor level who will also serve as Associate Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The successful candidate will be located at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy, Duluth campus and, with the Medical School Duluth Campus, and will be part of the developing, vibrant Academic Health Center-Duluth that is committed to the new research institute on the Duluth campus with a focus on neuroscience and cancer biology. The College of Pharmacy is one college with two campuses, in the Twin Cities and in Duluth. The 20 faculty members located on the Duluth campus are organized as a department of the College of Pharmacy (Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences) and faculty in the department span the pharmacy disciplines.
Abundant opportunities for interdisciplinary and collaborative research exist and exciting prospects are available to access the faculty, technologies and facilities of the entire University of Minnesota system. Candidates are expected to have a strong publication and research record and will continue an active research program that complements the current neuroscience direction. This individual’s research program will have outside funding, in the pharmaceutical sciences such as, but not limited to, delivery of neurotherapeutics, mechanisms limiting drug distribution to the brain, and cerebrovascular functions and diseases. He/she will also provide the stimulation and leadership needed in the development of a graduate program as well as the successful recruitment and mentorship of graduate and professional students in their pursuit of scholarship. Excellence in teaching is also expected in subjects relevant to both professional (Pharm.D.) and graduate programs. As the Associate Department Head, he/she will report directly, and work collaboratively with the Department Head to achieve the collegiate goals in its strategic plan. This individual will be expected to fosterexcellence in teaching, research and service among the pharmaceutical sciences faculty members (about half of the Duluth faculty members) to include the strong mentorship, career development, recruitment and retention of faculty and staff , assignment of workload and evaluation of performance, and professional development. He/she will help organize effective communications within the department and serve as a liaison between faculty, staff, students and administration which will ultimately result in a participatory decision-making process and environment (estimated 10% time).
A Ph.D. or a comparable degree in a field related to the neurosciences and experience at the postdoctoral level as well as evidence of successful funding of individual and/or collaborative applications is required. Rank is dependent upon the qualifications and experience consistent with university and collegiate policy.
